On Saturday, April 25, the Ashland University softball team fell to the Northwood University Timberwolves in both games of a home doubleheader.
With the results, the Eagles move to a 25-17 overall record and a 15-6 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
In game one, Ashland fell 7-5 in a 10-inning long-winded out.
The Eagles tied the game late with a four-run ninth inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from
Delaney Maynard. However, Northwood answered with two runs in the 10th and held Ashland scoreless in the bottom half.
And in game two, Northwood carried their late-game momentum from the doubleheader opener, surging to begin.
Northwood scored twice in the first inning and added an insurance run in the seventh.
Delaney Maynard provided the lone run for Ashland with a solo home run in the first. The Eagles managed five hits but were unable to turn those knocks, outside of Maynard's into any ticks on the scoreboard.
The Eagles don't have much time to hang their heads, though, as they are right back in action on Sunday against the Hillsdale College Chargers at noon EST and 2:00 p.m. EST from Deb Miller Field at the Archer Ballpark Complex.
