What do you do when you start a golf tournament by shooting one of the best team scores for the program in nearly 30 years?
Do it again.
In the second and final round of the Music City Invitational on Tuesday (April 16) outside of Nashville, Tenn., Ashland University's men's golf team followed a first-round 284 with a second-round 281 – tied for the fourth-best team score turned in by an Eagle men's squad since 1996-97.
AU's two-day score of 565 is the second-lowest 36-hole total for the program since 1996-97, as well.
The Eagles finished fourth in the 13-team field, only trailing Tiffin, Delta State and Northwood – all of whom ended 36 holes with a total of 563.
Fifth-year
Logan Thomas tied for sixth place individually, carding 68-70—138 and finishing with 13 birdies, six on Tuesday. Junior
Matthew McMullen made it a pair of Eagles in the top 10, placing in a tie for eighth at 70-69—139 and recording nine birdies and five on Tuesday.
Another fifth-year,
Andrew Kolar, tied for 17
th (72-69—141, seven birdies on Tuesday, nine birdies and an eagle on the tournament), and sophomores
Carter Mishler (75-73—148, two birdies on Tuesday and six on the tournament) and
Scott Armstrong (74-74—148, three birdies on Tuesday and seven on the tournament) each tied for 44
th.
