As the fall non-championship season winds down, Ashland University's men's golf team played the first two rounds at Findlay's Doc Spragg Invitational on Monday (Oct. 13).
The Eagles played the tournament's first 36 holes at 303-292—595, and finished Day 1 in a tie for 12
th place in the 17-team field. The host Oilers are in front at 285-281—566, followed by Missouri-St. Louis (293-276—569) and Findlay's B team (287-284—571).
Senior
Scott Armstrong led the AU charge on Monday, ending in a tie for 32
nd place at 73-73—146 (nine birdies, including four in a six-hole stretch).
Sophomore
Shaun Mazzalupi followed at 78-69—147 (eight birdies), and he is tied for 38
th, while fellow sophomore
Mark Pillar is tied for 52
nd at 75-75-150 (eagle, six birdies).
Redshirt freshman
Charlie Drapp (77-77—154, five birdies) and sophomore
Michael Fickle (79-75—154, five birdies) each are tied for 74
th.
Playing as an individual is sophomore
Sam Sutton, who is tied for 42
nd at 76-72—148 (four birdies).
