After tying for 12
th place following the first 36 holes on Monday (Oct. 13), Ashland University's men's golf team moved up on Tuesday (Oct. 14) to finish 10
th at Findlay's Doc Spragg Invitational.
The Eagles' final team score after steadily improving each round was 303-292-290. Missouri-St. Louis (293-276-290—859) and Findlay (285-281-293—859) were tied at the top after 54 holes, while Tiffin (286-287-290—863) was third.
Sophomore
Shaun Mazzalupi led the AU team effort, finishing at 78-69-71—218 (eagle, 12 birdies) and in a tie for 17
th individually.
Ashland's other four team players were bunched up at the end of the tourney. Sophomore
Mark Pillar was 75-75-74—224 (birdie, nine birdies), and senior
Scott Armstrong 73-73-78—224 (13 birdies), as each tied for 49
th. Redshirt freshman
Charlie Drapp ended at 77-77-72—226 (eight birdies) and in a tie for 61
st, and sophomore
Michael Fickle tied for 66
th at 79-75-73—227 (eight birdies).
Sophomore
Sam Sutton played as an individual, and carded 76-72-77—225 (eight birdies) to place in a tie for 57
th.
