Ashland University's men's golf team turned in its sixth-lowest round since 1996-97 during the opening day of the Music City Invitational on Monday (April 15), as its score of 284 was good for fourth place in the 13-team tournament through 18 holes.
The Eagles are just three shots behind first-round leader Tiffin (281), two shots behind second-place Drury (282), and a single stroke behind third-place Northwood (283).
Fifth-year
Logan Thomas turned in his best round of 2023-24, firing a four-under-par 68, which included seven birdies. Thomas goes into Round 2 two shots behind individual first-day leader Ethan Korock of Mississippi College (66).
Junior
Matthew McMullen is tied for ninth after Day 1, as he carded a 70 and had four birdies – including three in a four-hole stretch. Fifth-year
Andrew Kolar eagled hole No. 1 and added birdies on Nos. 7-8 en route to a 72 and a tie for 26
th.
Sophomore
Scott Armstrong is tied for 35
th (74, four birdies), while sophomore
Carter Mishler birdied his first four holes en route to a 75 and a tie for 50
th.
