With a team score of 297, the Eagles ended the first round in third place in the eight-team field. Winona State is first at 284, followed by Kentucky Wesleyan (288) and Ashland.
Ashland was paced on Thursday by both junior
Matthew McMullen and sophomore
Carter Mishler, each ending the first round in a tie for fifth place individually with matching rounds of 72. Mishler had three birdies on the day, and McMullen one.
Next up was fifth-year
Andrew Kolar, who is tied for 16
th at 75 (one birdie), followed by fifth-year
Logan Thomas (tied for 30
th, 79, two birdies) and sophomore
Brandon Nowery (49
th, 94).
Playing as an individual on Thursday was sophomore
Scott Armstrong, who ended the day with a 78 and a birdie, and in a tie for 25
th.
