Eagle Baseball Tops NDC, Off To 6-1 Start

Box Score For the second consecutive day, Ashland University's baseball team won an 11-9 game in Florida – this time being on Monday (March 4) afternoon against Notre Dame College.
 
The Eagles are 6-1 after seven contests for the second consecutive year.
 
Crooked numbers were the order of the day for Ashland, as it scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, three more in the fifth and four in the sixth.
 
POST-GAME NUGGETS
  • Pacing the 11-run, 15-hit attack were sophomore designated hitter Gavin Dobbels (2-for-2, four RBIs), junior third baseman Jeremiah Cangelosi (4-for-5, two runs scored, three RBIs) and sophomore center fielder/right fielder Chris Franks (3-for-5, double, two runs scored, two RBIs).
  • Junior right-hander Cameron Darrington (1-0) earned his first win as an Eagle on Monday, going 2 1/3 innings in relief and allowing five hits, five run and three walks and striking out two.
  • Another junior righty, Nathan Martin, picked up his first save at AU after three innings of no-hit relief. Martin struck out five, walked two and allowed two unearned runs.
