Men’s Golf Rises To Eighth-Place Finish At UIndy Invitational

Thanks to a fall-best-tying team score of 291 in the third and final round of the UIndy Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 26), Ashland University's men's golf team jumped three spots to finish in eighth place at the 16-team event.
 
NOTABLES
  • The Eagles finished at 299-295-291—885. Leading the way was sophomore Carter Mishler, whose final-round score of 68 helped him end in a tie for 10th place individually (73-74-68—215). Mishler had five birdies on Tuesday, and nine on the tournament.
  • Fifth-year Andrew Kolar tied for 28th at 72-74-73—219, and had four birdies on Tuesday and nine overall, while junior Matthew McMullen tied for 40th at 78-70-74—222 with four Tuesday birdies and 11 birdies overall.
  • Another fifth-year, Logan Thomas, tied for 70th (76-77-77—230, two Tuesday birdies, four overall birdies) and sophomore Scott Armstrong, 87th (92-81-76—249, two Tuesday birdies, three overall birdies) rounded out the AU effort.
  • Grand Valley State won the team title at 284-279-282—845, followed by Ferris State (279-288-289—856) and Wayne State (284-288-284—856).
  • Individual medalist honors went to Wayne State's Mat Hawryluk (67-73-67—207).
