After leading for most of the first round of Ferris State's B&R Investments Bulldog Classic on Monday (Sept. 18), Ashland University's men's golf team finished the first 36 holes of the 16-team tournament in sixth place.

The Eagles finished Day 1 at 292-304—596. Northwood (300-286—586) and the host Bulldogs (293-293—586) are tied for first, and Wayne State (295-295—590) is in third place.

NOTABLES
- Junior Matthew McMullen paced Ashland on Monday, and finished Day 1 in a tie for 11th at 74-73—147. McMullen had three birdies throughout the day.
- Fifth-year Logan Thomas and sophomore Scott Armstrong both tied for 21st. Thomas was 72-77—149 and had four birdies, while Armstrong was 72-77—149 and recorded six birdies, including three in a row in the first round.
- Another fifth-year, Andrew Kolar, is tied for 29th at 74-77—151 (three birdies), and sophomore Dylan Dunn is tied for 55th at 74-81—155 (five birdies).
