Through 36 of 54 holes at the 2023 NCAA Division II Midwest/Central super regional at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona, Minn., Ashland University's men's golf team is tied for sixth place in the 20-team field.
Friday's (May 12) second round saw the Eagles card a team score of 297 and have a two-day total of 287-297—584. The top six teams from the Winona super regional will advance to the 2023 NCAA Division II Championships, May 22-26 at Avalon Lakes in Warren, Ohio – as Ashland is looking to qualify for an NCAA Championship for the first time since 1979 as a member of Division III.
NOTABLES
- Freshman Dylan Dunn continues to be the Eagles' pacesetter at the super regional. He is tied for ninth place individually at 71-72—143, and on Friday, he had a birdie to start his round and to end his round.
- Sophomore Matthew McMullen is next up, tied for 29th at 72-75—147 (one Friday birdie), and senior Andrew Kolar is tied for 36th at 74-74—148 (three Friday birdies).
- Senior Logan Thomas is tied for 43rd (70-79—149), and freshman Carter Mishler is tied for 68th (76-76—152, four Friday birdies).
- Grand Valley State is leading the field at 276-287—563, followed by Maryville (292-287—579), Henderson State (289-293—582) and Washburn (295-287—582), Findlay (287-296—583), and Ashland and Harding (296-288—584).
