Ashland University's men's golf team played the first of three days at Indianapolis' Ken Partridge Invitational on Sunday (April 9), finishing the first round in seventh place in the 13-team event.
The Eagles' team score of 298 is 12 shots behind first-round leader Missouri-St. Louis (286). Grand Valley State is second (289), and Findlay third (291).
NOTABLES
- Pacing Ashland's effort on Easter Sunday was sophomore Matthew McMullen, whose even-par 72 is good for a tie for eighth place individually through 18 holes. McMullen had three birdies on Day 1.
- Freshman Carter Mishler is tied for 15th after an opening-round 73 (two birdies), and sophomore Tyler Gillespie is tied for 34th with a 76 (two birdies). Seniors Logan Thomas (tied for 44th, 77, two birdies) and Andrew Kolar (tied for 61st, 79, four birdies) rounded out the AU team effort.
- Playing as an individual for Ashland on Sunday was freshman Dylan Dunn, who is tied for 21st after an opening-round 74 and four birdies. Dunn now has five rounds of a career-low 74 so far in 2022-23.
