Carter Mishler already had cemented his status as one of the Midwest Region's top men's golfers prior to the first 36 holes of Findlay's Doc Spragg Fall Invitational on Monday (Oct. 16).

The Ashland University sophomore took it to another level on Monday, however, as he is tied for first place individually in the all-Midwest field after firing a 68-70—138 and recording nine birdies.

Mishler's day helped the Eagles end Day 1 in a tie for fifth place in the 16-team tourney at 4-under par (286-286—572). Grand Valley State is 14-under, followed by Findlay (11-under), Indianapolis (6-under) and Tiffin (6-under).

- Fifth-year Andrew Kolar is tied for 23rd after carding 75-68—143 and having an eagle and six birdies, including third straight birds in Round 2.
- Junior Matthew McMullen is tied for 39th at 71-74—145 and recorded seven birdies, sophomore Dylan Dunn is tied for 45th at 72-74—146, and had an eagle and three birdies, and fifth-year Logan Thomas is 74th at 75-78—153 and with two birdies.
