Eagle Men’s Golf Trio Garners GCAA All-America Scholar Recognition

For the second year in a row, Ashland University's men's golf team has three NCAA Division II Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars.
 
As announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America, juniors Jake Amann, Andrew Kolar and Logan Thomas all have been lauded as 2021-22 D-II All-America Scholars.
 
- Amann played in nine tournaments last year (23 rounds), and carded an average round of 77.78. He fired a low round of 73, and has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.67 as a Business Management major.
 
- Kolar was a 2022 All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference selection. In 10 tournaments (26 rounds), he averaged 73.69 strokes per round, had a low 18 holes of 67, and is the program's all-time leader in lowest scoring average since 1996-97 (74.02). Kolar has a cumulative GPA of 3.64 as an Accounting major.
 
- Thomas played in nine tournaments (23 rounds) in 2021-22, and averaged a score of 74.52. He fired a low round of 70, and has a cumulative GPA of 3.50 as a Supply Chain Management major. This is Thomas' second All-America Scholar citation.
 
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average of less than 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career GPA of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

In addition, Ashland's men were named a GCAA NCAA Division II All-Academic Team. A team earning that award needs a GPA of 3.0 or better during that academic year.
