AU Men’s Golf Plays In Day 1 At the Motor City Invite

The first day of Wayne State's Motor City/Frank Jawor Invite was contested on Sunday (Oct. 9) in Dearborn, Mich., and Ashland University's men's golf team is eighth in the 11-team field through 18 holes.
 
WHAT HAPPENED

• The Eagles' first-round team score of 321 is 25 strokes behind leader Grand Valley State (296). Tiffin is second (302), and the host Warriors are third (303).
• Freshman Carter Mishler and sophomore Tyler Gillespie were Ashland's pacesetters on Sunday. Mishler ended Day 1 with a 78 and four birdies and is tied for 18^th individually, while Gillespie also had a 78 and is tied for 18^th.
• Sophomore Matthew McMullen is tied for 40^th after an opening-round 82 and two birdies, senior Logan Thomas is tied for 46^th after an 83 and one birdie, and senior Andrew Kolar is tied for 50^th following an 84 and one birdie.
