Three Ashland University seniors got the 2021 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships off on the right foot on Thursday (May 6), as
Travis Moore,
Brent Fairbanks and
Cody Stine all won league championships at Davenport.

Moore garnered the first GLIAC title of the week, winning the men's decathlon with 6,523 points. Fairbanks won the conference title in the men's hammer throw at 65.49 meters/214-feet-10, while Stine took the men's high jump at 2.09 meters/6-feet-10¼, improving upon his previous provisional mark for the 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, May 27-29 at Grand Valley State.

Storm Elsesser in the men's high jump (2.04 meters/6-feet-8¼) and junior
Makayla Pop in the women's hammer throw (55.78 meters/183-feet-0, improved provisional).

Emma Liberatore in the women's heptathlon (4,192 points), senior
Alex Hill in the men's hammer throw (61.38 meters/201-feet-4), sophomore
Ethan Tabor in the men's long jump (6.82 meters/22-feet-4½), junior
Carrol Pauley in the women's hammer throw (54.08 meters/177-feet-5), and senior
Spencer Wirick in the men's 10,000-meter run (31:52.05).

Miguel Garcia in the men's decathlon (5,213 points), senior
Gianna DiPippo in the women's hammer throw (48.04 meters/157-feet-7), and sophomore
Allie Holmes in the women's javelin throw (33.20 meters/108-feet-11).

SIXTH PLACE – Tabor in the men's high jump (1.84 meters/6-feet-0½), Elsesser in the men's long jump (6.35 meters/20-feet-10), and senior
Jared Ryder in the men's javelin throw (45.69 meters/149-feet-11).

Cody Patterson in the men's hammer throw (58.44 meters/191-feet-8, improved provisional).

When the dust settled on Thursday, the Eagle men were in second place with 71 points, trailing only Grand Valley State (98); on the women's side, AU's 28 points were good for fourth place behind GVSU (60), Saginaw Valley State (46) and Davenport (31).

The third and final day of the 2021 GLIAC Outdoor Championships will be Friday (May 7).
