Andrew Kolar hasn't had too many high rounds in his young Ashland University men's golf career.
Kolar, however, quickly rebounded from a first-round 84 on Thursday (March 5) at the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff in Wesley Chapel, Fla., by carding a second-round 73 on Friday (March 6). Kolar's 11-stroke improvement, which included birdies on holes No. 4, 12 and 15, gives him a two-day total of 157, good for fifth place individually through the first 36 holes.
Playing as an individual, freshman Caden Gallagher is 12th individually after a second-round 85. Right behind him are senior Patrick Steffen (13th, 88 on Friday), junior Ben Jones (14th, 81 on Friday) and sophomore Luke Tanner (tied for 15th, 88 on Friday).
Rounding out AU's contingent are freshman Jake Amann (tied for 18th, 83 on Friday) and, playing as an individual, freshman Logan Thomas (22nd, 91 on Friday).
As a team, the Eagles are in third place at 327-325—652. Ferris State is first (313-305—618), while Northern Michigan is second (326-315—641).
Ashland's men will finish play in Florida with 18 more holes on Saturday (March 7).
