AU Men Finish 17th At Findlay Spring Invite

At the 23-team Findlay Spring Invitational in Lexington, Ky., Ashland University's men's golf team finished the 36 holes in 17th place.

On Day 2 on Tuesday (March 27), the Eagles concluded with a team score of 310, and ended the invite at 313-310—623. Indianapolis was the team champion (284-290—574), followed by Grand Valley State (291-299—590) and Maryville (293-297—590) in a tie for second place.

Junior Austin Kondratick birdied holes No. 4, 5 and 7 on Tuesday en route to a 2-over-par round of 72 for the second day in a row. His two-day total of 72-72—144 was good for a tie for 14th on the individual leaderboard.

Sophomore Patrick Steffen also turned in three birdies on Tuesday (holes No. 10, 16 and 17), finishing the tournament in a tie for 53rd at 78-77—155. Freshman Ben Jones birdied at Nos. 4, 11 and 13 to end at 82-78—160, and in a tie for 86th.

Rounding out the Ashland effort were senior Chandler Walnsch (tied for 96th, 80-82—162) and junior Cole Smith (tied for 96th, 81-81—162). Walnsch birdied hole No. 5 on Tuesday, while Smith picked up a pair on holes No. 3 and 5.

UP NEXT: Thursday (March 29) and Friday (March 30) at the Ohio Valley Mister Bee Potato Chips Intercollegiate Golf Championships, in Cambridge, Ohio.
