Junior Austin Kondratick fired an opening-round 69 on Saturday (Sept. 16) to begin the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Invitational at HawksHead Links in South Haven, Mich.
Kondratick's three-under-par round left him tied for fourth place individually, just one shot off the lead.
Freshman Ben Jones shot a 77, followed by senior Chandler Walnsch (78), sophomore Patrick Steffen (83) and junior Cole Smith (84).
Eagles playing as individuals were juniors Frank Steffen (78) and Tyler Starr (80).
As a team, the Eagles finished with a score of 307 - 10th place in an 11-team field. Wayne State and Grand Valley State are tied for the top spot after 18 holes (285), while Northern Michigan is third (288).
