Eagle Baseball At No. 8 In Third Set Of Midwest Regional Rankings

In the third set of 2026 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings, revealed on Wednesday (May 6) afternoon, Ashland University's baseball team is in the No. 8 spot.
 
The Eagles are 35-14 overall and 23-8 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, and will open 2026 Great Midwest Tournament play on Wednesday at 6 p.m. vs. Ohio Dominican.
 
Regional rankings were released on April 22 in alphabetical order, and on April 29 in rank order. The NCAA Division II baseball tournament selection show will be on NCAA.com at 10 p.m. on Sunday (May 10).
 
Ashland baseball has played in the NCAA postseason 24 times, and has qualified for the D-II playoffs 20 times under head coach John Schaly. The Eagles have played in the D-II College World Series six times (1995, 1999, 2002, 2006, 2008 and 2019).
 
A 56-team tournament (either eight or six teams in each of eight regions), the D-II postseason will begin on May 14. The regionals are May 14-17 at on-campus sites, super regionals are May 21-23 at on-campus sites, and the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships will be in Cary, N.C., from May 29-June 6.
 
In the Midwest Region, automatic qualifiers come from the winners of the Great Midwest, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The other five teams are chosen as at-large entries.
