As announced by the NCAA on Wednesday (May 6) afternoon, Ashland University's softball team remains in the No. 5 spot in the third set of Division II Midwest Regional rankings.
The Eagles are 32-17 overall and finished as the runner-up at the 2026 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.
Regional rankings were released on April 22 in alphabetical order, and on April 29 in rank order. The NCAA Division II softball tournament selection show will be on NCAA.com at 10 a.m. on Monday (May 11).
Ashland softball has played in the D-II postseason 13 times, and is looking for its first D-II playoff appearance since 2015.
A 64-team tournament (eight teams in each of eight regions), the D-II postseason will begin on May 14. The regionals are May 14-16 at on-campus sites, super regionals are May 21-22 at on-campus sites, and the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships will be in Chattanooga, Tenn., from May 28-June 3.
In the Midwest Region, automatic qualifiers come from the winners of the Great Midwest, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The other five teams are chosen as at-large entries.
