The Ashland University men's and women's tennis teams put together a great finish to the 2026 regular season.
On Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18, the Eagles traveled south to Kentucky to take on the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers and Thomas More Saints. The men produced back-to-back 5-2 victories, while the women followed a similar path, winning both of their matchups, 7-0.
The women's team wasn't just led by one person or one duos team, but rather everyone on roster. Going 14-0 across two competitions is no tough task, with impressive showings coming from all around. Against the Saints,
Ana Penteado and
Maria Jemio won their contest's, 6-0, while against the Panthers, only two Eagles dropped even a single set.Â
The men's team received great 7-6 win in doubles action against the Saints, with the duo of
Eduardo Lima and
Bernardo Duarte coming out on top. In singles play, wins from
Tomas Paskauskas,
Doug Cree,
Ryohei Miyake, Lima and Duarte spotlighted the Eagles' performance over the weekend.
As Ashland finishes the regular season strong, there's no time to relax. They will be right back in action at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday, April 23, for Day 1 of the event. The women's team made the tournament as the No. 6 seed, with the men just barely missing out.Â
The Eagles will take on the Tiffin University Dragons, the No. 3 seed, in Owensoro, Ky., at 1:00 p.m. CST.Â
