On Thursday, March 19, the Ashland University Women's Tennis team fell to the Cleveland State University Vikings, 7-0, in a late-week matchup.
In doubles, the Eagles saw a near victory for Constanza Arancibia and Ana Penteado, who fell just one short of winning, 4-3. The other two doubles matches were controlled comfortably by the home team, as the Vikings advanced into singles play with plenty of momentum.
The Eagles' closest margin of defeat in singles was between Viking Ella Franz and Constanza, with the opening game going the way of Constanza, 6-4. Franz ended up snagging the other two matches, though, to pull off the win.
Despite the final score, Ashland competed hard on Thursday, setting the stage for bounce-back opportunities to come.
The Eagles will next hit the courts on Saturday, Feb. 21, against the Tiffin Dragons on the road at 2:00 p.m. EST. They'll then travel to Findlay to take on the Oilers the following day, with game time slated for 12:00 p.m. EST.
