The 2025 Ashland University cross country season began on Friday (Sept. 5) night at Wright State's Mike Baumer Classic, as both the Eagle men and women took part in 5K races.
In the women's 5K, Ashland was fourth with 110 team points – and was the top NCAA Division II side. The top three teams were Ohio State (18), Butler (50) and Northern Kentucky (99).
The first collegiate race for freshman
Ava Parrett was a successful one, as she finished in 15
th place in 18:21.7. Following Parrett was graduate
Emilie Lemon (23
rd, 18:39.5), and three juniors –
Amandine Binet (27
th, 18:46.9),
Molly Coleman (18:58.5) and
Lauren Bero (33
rd, 19:04.2).
On the men's side, Ashland finished fifth overall, and second among D-II squads, with 127 team points. Butler (21), Ohio State (34), the host Raiders (120) and Cedarville (126) made up the top four.
The scorers for the AU men were a mix of veterans and youngsters. Seniors

th, 14:54.2) and
Braeden Geist (19
th, 15:02.8) each placed in the top 20 individually, sophomore
Wes Taylor was 24
th in 15:08.8, sophomore
Samuel Thomas was 37
th in 15:27.1, and junior
Colton Thress crossed 48
th in 15:34.2.
