The start of the 2026 cross country season was a good one for the Ashland University men and women, as, on Friday (Sept. 4) night at Wright State's Mike Baumer Cross Country Classic, the No. RV Eagle men finished in second place, and the AU women took third.

In the men's 5K, Ashland finished with 58 team points – second to only Ohio State's 34. In his first race as an Eagle, junior
Isaiah Lanoy was the team's top placer, crossing the finish line fifth in 15:19.3.

The Ashland men also boasted two other top-10 finishers in junior
Wes Taylor (eighth, 15:31.2) and fifth-year
Braeden Geist (ninth, 15:32.7).

Rounding out the men's top five were senior
Colton Thress (21
st, 16:00.3) and freshman
Mark Goode (26
th, 16:07.2).

Sophomore
Ava Parrett finished the women's 5K as AU's top placer, clocking in at 18:07.9 and in fifth place overall. That helped the Eagle women to 92 team points – trailing only OSU (24) and Indianapolis (69).
