Ashland University's No. 8-ranked STUNT team competed for the first time at Kates Gymnasium in 2025 on Saturday (Feb. 8), losing 23-2 to No. 2 Davenport and defeating No. 15 Malone, 23-0.
"It was exactly what we expected," said Ashland head coach
Denise Farnsworth. "We were hoping to be a little bit more competitive with Davenport this morning, but the good thing about that is it showed us our real weaknesses and our timing issues verses theirs.
"The game against Malone was exactly what we wanted. We wanted to be able to score large numbers in this one and be a little bit more consistent."
The Eagles are 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference two weeks into the young season.
"The biggest thing we're seeing is our lack of consistency that keeps popping up," Farnsworth said. "We're a little bit younger this year, and I knew that, so it's really all about consistency at this point."
In the victory over the Pioneers, senior flyer/tumbler
Alyssa McLaughlin led the Eagles with 48 points.
