The first round of NCAA postseason play in six years for Ashland University's women's golf team was a very good one.
On Monday (May 6) in the first round of the NCAA Division II East Regional at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Ind., the Eagles ended in third place in the 15-team field. The top five teams and two individuals not on those teams move on to the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships, May 21-25 at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, Fla..
Through the first 18 holes, Ashland fired a team score of 308 – trailing only first-place Findlay (299) and second-place Indianapolis (300). The Eagles are nine shots ahead of the two teams tied for fifth – Grand Valley State and Missouri-St. Louis (317).
Pacing AU on Day 1 were junior
Emma Conway and sophomore
Klaira Paramore, both of whom fired 76s and are tied for 11
th individually. Conway finished Monday with five birdies. Freshman
LeeAnn Harker was right behind with a 77, two birdies, and tied for 19
th.

Grace Grant is tied for 44
th (81, one birdie).
Saginaw Valley State's Brook Herbstreit is the first-round individual leader after a round of 70.
The last time Ashland women's golf played in an NCAA postseason round was 2018, when the program was finishing a run of 10 straight playoff appearances from 2009-18.
