Women’s Golf Finishes 17th In The Country Following Play At D-II Nationals

Following the third and final round of team play at the 2024 NCAA Division II Championships at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, Fla., on Thursday (May 23), Ashland University's women's golf team ended the 2023-24 season as the No. 17 team in the country.
 
The Eagles were 306-304-307—917 at nationals, with those team scores representing the second- through fourth-best in AU women's golf history at the D-II Championship.
 
It is Ashland women's golf's best national finish since placing ninth in 2015. This is the fourth time the team has qualified for D-II nationals.

Freshman Riley McKenzie was AU's low scorer for the week, finishing at 77-77-71—225 (tied for 59th individually). She recorded an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole on Thursday, and also had birdies on the par-5 No. 17 and par-3 Nos. 4 and 6, to finish with five birdies for the Championship.
 
McKenzie also finished at a team-best 2-under par on par-5s over three days.
 
Junior Grace Grant was next at 76-69-83—228 (tied for 73rd), had five birdies for the tourney and was a team-best 2-under par on par-3s for the week.
 
Freshman LeeAnn Harker ended at 77-78-78—233 (tied for 83rd, one Thursday birdie, three in the tournament), junior Emma Conway was 76-84-78—238 (tied for 87th, three Thursday birdies, five in the tournament), and sophomore Klaira Paramore finished 79-80-80—239 (tied for 90th, five birdies on the week).
