The first day of the NCAA Division II Championship at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, Fla., was played on Tuesday (May 21), and Ashland University's women's golf team ended the first 18 holes in 16
th place amongst the 18-team field.
Round 1 saw the Eagles shoot a team round of 306 – 11 shots behind eighth-place Indianapolis and Henderson State. The top eight teams after 54 holes move on to the match play bracket starting on Friday (May 24).

Juniors
Grace Grant and
Emma Conway paced Ashland on Day 1 after carding 76s, and being tied for 76
th individually. Grant had birdies on holes No. 11 and 18, and Conway birdies No. 7.
The Eagles' two freshmen,
LeeAnn Harker and
Riley McKenzie, were next with 77s and ending in a tie for 89
th. Harker and McKenzie each had a birdie on Tuesday – McKenzie on No. 1, Harker on No. 4.
Sophomore
Klaira Paramore is tied for 100
th after a round of 79 and birdies on Nos. 4, 14 and 18.
