AU Baseball Makes Move To No. 7 In ABCA Coaches Poll

Mere hours before taking the field at Tomassi Stadium and Donges Field at the Archer Ballpark Complex on Tuesday (April 23) at noon vs. Gannon, Ashland University's baseball team found out it is in the No. 7 spot in the latest American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NCAA Division II Coaches Poll.
 
As announced by the ABCA on Tuesday morning, the Eagles moved up one spot to its highest ranking in the coaches poll since at least 2015. Ashland was No. 5 in the final poll following the 2006 season.
 
Ashland is 34-6 overall and 20-4 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference – and sports a four-game lead in the league over second-place Trevecca Nazarene, Northwood and Findlay with eight regular-season conference games to go. The Eagles will finish the 2024 regular season with two four-game Great Midwest series – Saturday and Sunday (April 27-28) at Findlay, and May 2-4 at home vs. Tiffin.
 
The 2024 Great Midwest Tournament will be May 8-11 at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, and Ashland has clinched a berth in the tourney.
 
Ashland continues to be the only Great Midwest team in this week's poll, as well as the highest-ranked Midwest Region team.
 
Through Sunday (April 21), the Eagles' .850 winning percentage ranked in a tie for third in Division II, behind only Tampa (.902, 37-4) and Central Missouri (.889, 40-5).
