It was a frontrunning-type of day for Ashland University's women's golf team to begin the Gannon Spring Invitational on Saturday (April 13), as freshman
LeeAnn Harker is No. 1 on the individual leaderboard through 18 holes, and the Eagles as a team are tied for first place with Franklin Pierce through Day 1.
Ashland and Franklin Pierce are tied with identical 320s, while the host Golden Knights are third at 322.
Harker fired a 2-over-par 74 with three birdies on Saturday. She has a four-shot lead over Franklin Pierce's Kesinee Prukmathakul going into Day 2.
She, however, wasn't the only Eagle to finish the opening day in the top 10 individually. Senior
Mailiis Simovart is tied for fourth after a 79 playing as an individual, and sophomore
Klaira Paramore is tied for 10
th after carding an 81 (two birdies).
Junior
Grace Grant is tied for 14
th (82, two birdies), both junior
Emma Conway (83) and freshman
Riley McKenzie (83, one birdie) are tied for 16
th, and senior
Maddy Klinger (88) is 23
rd playing as an individual.
