Ashland University's women's golfers got their annual chance to play a home tournament on Saturday (Sept. 23) at Ashland Golf Club, and through the first 18 holes of the Ashland Eagle Invitational, the Eagles have made the most of it.
After round No. 1, Ashland leads the 10-team field with a score of 326 at the historically-tough course. Ohio Dominican is in second place at 329, followed by Glenville State (330), Walsh (331), Malone (334), Ashland Purple (338), Ohio Dominican (364), Thomas More (367), Ursuline (381), and Lake Erie (no team score).
NOTABLES
- Sophomore Klaira Paramore is tied for third place individually through the first day of play after a round of 79.
- Ashland has three players in the top 10 heading into the second round – Paramore and juniors Emma Conway (tied for sixth, 81) and Grace Grant (tied for ninth, 82).
- Senior Mailiis Simovart is tied for 14th with an 84, and freshman Riley McKenzie is tied for 21st with an 85.
- Pacing the Ashland Purple team are freshman LeeAnn Harker (fifth, 80) and senior Maddy Klinger (tied for sixth, 81).
