One of the best team scores in Ashland University women's golf history has the Eagles in first place after the opening round of the UC Invitational on Monday (Sept. 11).
Ashland's 299 at Charleston, W.Va., on Monday is one shot better than second-place Gannon (300), and three strokes ahead of third-place Glenville State (302). It also is the third-lowest team score in program history, behind a 290 during the 2014-15 campaign, and three 298s.
NOTABLES
- Sophomore Klaira Paramore and junior Grace Grant each are tied for seventh place individually, leading the Eagle team showing with a 74 – and Grant's score being a career low. Junior Emma Conway was right behind with an opening-round 75, and is tied for 10th.
- Senior Mailiis Simovart tied her career low round at 76, and freshman Riley McKenzie matched that in her first collegiate round. Both are tied for 12th.
- As an individual, freshman LeeAnn Harker finished in a tie for second place individually by carding a 73 in her collegiate opener.
