Box Score Ashland University's baseball team moved to 7-1 on Tuesday (March 7) morning, earning a fourth consecutive victory, 16-3, against West Virginia Wesleyan (1-7).

The Eagles scored at least one run in each of the first six innings of the seven-inning affair – two in the top of the first, four in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and four in the sixth.

NOTABLES
- Ashland's 16-run, 18-hit attack featured five home runs – one each from sophomore center fielder Cam Miller, redshirt freshman third baseman Collin Overholt, freshman third baseman Ryan Shimek, sophomore first baseman Sam Witt and redshirt freshman catcher Steve Essig.
- Witt was 3-for-4 with two doubles, the homer, a run scored and an RBI, freshman shortstop A.J. Lewis was 3-for-3 with a double and four runs scored, Overholt was 2-for-3 with a double, the homer, two runs scored and an RBI, and Essig was 2-for-3 with his homer, two runs scored and two RBIs. Miller drove in three runs, and Essig, Shimek and sophomore designated hitter Cam Scott each added two RBIs.
- Redshirt freshman left-hander John Essig (1-0), with his twin brother catching, earned his first collegiate win by going four innings, allowing five hits, three runs (one earned) and three walks and striking out three. Sophomore righty Cal Johnston added two scoreless innings with two strikeouts, and sophomore righty Austin Hamilton tossed a scoreless seventh.
