Shutout, Perfect Game Propel STUNT To 2-0 Home Season Debut

An impressive crowd of 550 which started chants of "AU" and "Let's Go Eagles" on Saturday (March 18) saw the No. 5-ranked Ashland University STUNT team shut out Olivet, 17-0, then earn a 24-9 perfect game decision from Hiram on Senior Day at Kates Gymnasium.
 
The Eagles are 9-4 – matching their win total in 2022.
 
NOTABLES
  • Game 1 score-by-quarter – 2-0 AU after one, 5-0 AU at halftime, 8-0 after three.
  • Top-rated Eagles against Olivet were sophomore flyer/tumbler/base Chloe Colvin (35 points), sophomore flyer/tumbler Alyssa McLaughlin (35 points) and junior flyer/tumbler Lily Boldman (33 points).
  • This was the second non-forfeit shutout in program history (16-0 vs. Ursuline at home on March 19, 2022).
  • Game 2 score-by-quarter – 4-1 AU after one, 8-3 AU at halftime, 12-5 after three.
  • Ashland's top performers in the program's first perfect game included Boldman (53 points), McLaughlin (50 points), junior back/base Ashley Amstutz (50 points), senior back/tumbler Karlee Rice (49 points), and senior base/tumbler Shila Hartzler (49 points).
  • Eagle seniors honored before the first game were Rice, Hartzler, base/tumbler Kayla Pitts and flyer/tumbler/base Kaylee Reed.

  • "It's a huge day for us," said Ashland head coach Denise Farnsworth. "It's all the elements coming together."
  • "We're trying to get everyone playing time, and they are all fighting for each other," Farnsworth said.
  • "We've put a lot of work into it," Colvin said. "It's awesome to see it pay off, especially on our Senior Day."
  • Said sophomore flyer/tumbler Elly Dukes, "It's been amazing, being able to create history for this team. This team is such an amazing environment, and just trying to build this program up for future generations has been absolutely amazing."
