The 2022 Ashland University cross country season opened on Friday (Sept. 2) night at Wright State University, as the Eagle men and women ran at the Mike Baumer XC Classic.
Both teams running 5Ks, Ashland's women placed eighth out of 13 teams, and the AU men were ninth in the 15-team field.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Ashland's women had 266 team points. Ohio State (19) won, followed by Oakland (76) and Dayton (77).
- Four of the Eagle women's placers were freshmen – Jade Neal (76th, 20:33.2), Haley Heitz (90th, 21:07.7), Analeise Hartino (93rd, 21:17.1), and Brenna Heinzerling (97th, 21:23.5).
- Senior Emma Hinkle placed 82nd in 20:46.3.
- On the men's side, the Eagles had 265 team points. The Buckeyes won the men's race (33), with Dayton second (82) and Cedarville third (86).
- Ashland's men's placers were sophomore Colton Pinkerton (40th, 15:51.0), freshman Michael Snopik (54th, 16:09.5), senior Nick Ponzi (59th, 16:11.4), freshman Braeden Geist (81st, 16:36.0), and junior Konnor Ray (95th, 16:52.9).
UP NEXT
Ashland's men and women will be back in competition on Sept. 16 at 8:15 p.m. at the All-Ohio Championship at Cedarville.
