A big move up the Great Midwest Athletic Conference ladder was expected for the Ashland University men's cross country team on Saturday (Oct. 25) morning at the 2025 conference championships – and a big move the Eagles earned.
After not finishing any higher than seventh at a Great Midwest Championship prior to Saturday, the AU men finished in second place this year with 72 points. Walsh won with 57 points, and the Eagles were one point better than third-place Tiffin (73).
Three of Ashland's men finished as all-conference performers. Senior
Nate Slater (fourth, PR of 24:23.6) and sophomore
Wes Taylor (sixth, 24:30.9) are first-teamers, and senior
Braeden Geist (13
th, 24:48.9) is a second-teamer. Slater's placement is the highest individually for any Eagle in G-MAC competition.
Rounding out the Eagle men's top seven were redshirt freshman

th, 25:02.9), senior
Michael Snopik (25
th, PR of 25:06.6), fifth-year
Colton Pinkerton (39
th, PR of 25:23.4), and junior

th, PR of 25:39.9).
In the women's 6K race, Ashland turned its best team showing so far in Great Midwest Championships competition, finishing fifth with 127 points. Cedarville won (27), followed by Walsh (67) and Findlay (76).

Emilie Lemon paced the Eagle women with a 22
nd-place finish in a PR of 22:31.6.
It then was a big pack of Eagles in the 2-6 spots – junior
