The first day of Ohio Dominican's Champions of Women's Golf is complete, and Ashland University's women's golf team is in the thick of the hunt for a tournament title.
On Monday (Sept. 19) at Champions Golf Course in nearby Columbus, the Eagles finished the first 18 holes in second place and with a team score of 307 – four shots behind first-round leader Northern Michigan's 303.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Freshman Klaira Paramore turned in the strongest round of her young collegiate career, and is near the top of the individual leaderboard. Paramore is tied for third after 18 holes after carding a 74 – two shots off the lead – and recording a pair of birdies.
- Sophomore Emma Conway is tied for 12th after an opening-round 77 and a birdie, and a pair of Eagles are tied for 21st with 78s – sophomore Grace Grant (one birdie) and junior Mailiis Simovart (one birdie).
- Junior Maddy Klinger is tied for 28th after a first-round 79 and a birdie, while sophomore Lindsay Mayo is tied for 49th after an 84 and two birds.
- The top of the team leaderboard is tight, with the host Panthers one shot behind AU (308) in third, and Davenport one stroke behind ODU in fourth (309).
UP NEXT
The second and final round in Columbus will be played on Tuesday (Sept. 20).
