For the first time, the All-Ohio Collegiate Cross Country Championships were run at night on Friday (Sept. 16) at Cedarville.
Under the lights, Ashland University's men's cross country team competed in the All-Ohio 8K race, while the Eagle women took part in the 5K race.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Ashland's men finished in 11th place in the 30-team field overall, was seventh in the 14-team D2/NAIA section, and was sixth among Great Midwest Athletic Conference squads.
- Of the Eagle men's top five finishers, three earned 8K PRs. Sophomore Colton Pinkerton was 23rd among D2/NAIA runners in a PR time of 25:32.7, while senior Nick Ponzi was 47th in an 8K PR of 26:27.7.
- Freshman Michael Snopik was 48th in 26:28.4, junior Konnor Ray took 52nd in 26:37.5, and senior Joel Pospisil was 72nd in a new 8K PR time of 27:13.6.
- The women's race saw Ashland finish in 15th place in the 33-team field, and in the D2/NAIA category, the Eagles were seventh out of 14 teams. AU was sixth among Great Midwest entrants.
- Ashland's women's top five placers were freshman Jade Neal (48th in D2/NAIA category, 19:52.4, 5K PR), junior McKenna Woodruff (52nd, 19:59.8), senior Emma Hinkle (70th, 20:39.4), sophomore Emilie Lemon (72nd, 20:51.9, 5K PR), and freshman Haley Heitz (75th, 20:53.5, 5K PR).
