Eagle Men Place Second, Women Third At Great Midwest Outdoor Meet

The 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships concluded on Friday (May 6), and Ashland University's outdoor track and field teams finished in second place (men) and third place (women), respectively.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • Eagle athletes earned four league titles on Friday. In the case of senior Cheyanne Davis, not only did she win the women's 400-meter relay in 55.66 seconds, she also earned a new provisional mark for the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, May 26-28 in Allendale, Mich.
  • Senior Rachel Miller won the women's 400 hurdles in 1:00.32, senior Aaron Banks won the men's 200 dash in 21.34 seconds, and Banks, sophomore Doniven Jackson, senior Channing Phillips and senior Keshun Jones won the men's 4x100 relay in 40.53 seconds.
  • SECOND PLACE – Men's 4x400 relay team of sophomore Brenden Jackson, freshman Colin Roberts, senior Ryan Rager and Jones (3:16.41); senior Nate Stout in the men's shot put (improved provo, 17.29 meters/56-feet-8¾), Banks in the men's 100 dash (10.51 seconds), and the women's 4x100 team of Davis, Miller, junior Morgan Dennis and sophomore Alena Williams (46.83 seconds).
  • THIRD PLACE – Rager in the men's 400 dash (48.76 seconds), senior Cameron Shifflet in the men's 400 hurdles (55.30 seconds), junior Ethan Tabor in the men's triple jump (14.46 meters/47-feet-5¼), junior Allie Holmes in the women's javelin (34.91 meters/114-feet-6), Dennis in the women's 100 dash (11.91 seconds), and the women's 4x400 relay team of sophomore Peyton Perini, freshman Hannah Berheide, freshman Mia Gardner and sophomore Elizabeth Adams (4:01.66).
  • FOURTH PLACE – Sophomore Noah Koch in the men's shot put (16.63 meters/54-feet-6¾), junior Macy Creamer in the women's 400 hurdles (1:03.74), and sophomore McKenna Woodruff in the women's 800 run (2:17.50).
  • FIFTH PLACE – Phillips in the men's 400 dash (49.34 seconds), senior Tim Rumas in the men's 100 dash (10.76 seconds), senior Jake Hall in the men's 1,500 run (3:57.27), Doniven Jackson in the men's 200 dash (21.57 seconds), freshman Kelsey Kinsley in the women's shot put (new provo, 14.21 meters/46-feet-7½), and Gardner in the women's 400 dash (57.52 seconds).
  • SIXTH PLACE – Brenden Jackson in the men's 400 dash (49.92 seconds), senior Storm Elsesser in the men's triple jump (14.32 meters/46-feet-11¾), freshman D.J. Duncan in the men's 110 hurdles (15.20 seconds), senior Cassandra Ponzi in the women's 800 run (2:19.35), and Dennis in the women's 200 dash (25.34 seconds).
  • SEVENTH PLACE – Phillips in the men's 200 dash (23.98 seconds).
  • EIGHTH PLACE – Freshman Noah Wood in the men's 400 dash (50.39 seconds), Davis in the women's 200 dash (25.69 seconds), and senior Abby Moser in the women's 1,500 run (4:52.62).
  • After the meet, Banks was named co-men's track Athlete of the Meet. He earned 20.5 points during the conference meet.
  • Ashland's men had 130.5 team points, trailing only Findlay (183). Hillsdale finished in third (126).
  • On the women's side, the Eagles had 118 points, behind only Hillsdale (179.67) and Findlay (160).
