All season, Ashland University's junior women's weight throwers were 1-2 in NCAA Division II –
Molly Winner first, and
Leslie Pollock second.
On Day 1 of the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday (March 13) in Virginia Beach, Va., the results came in the other way around.
Her last throw of the finals, a PR of 21.05 meters/69-feet-0¾. lifted Pollock to her first national championship – the Eagles' first indoors or outdoors since 2022. Winner finished second with a top heave of 20.99 meters/68-feet-10½.
This is Pollock's first All-American citation, and Winner's fifth.
In the men's pole vault finals, graduate
Brayden Jackson earned his first D-II All-American honor by placing in a tie for fourth at 5.16 meters/16-feet-11.
The 18 points from weight throw has Ashland's women in first place after Day 1, two points ahead of second-place Pittsburg State. The Eagle men have 4.5 team points through the first day, and are tied for 15th.
In the women's distance medley relay finals, senior
Emilie Lemon, sophomore
Olivia Saylor, and seniors
Jade Avance and
Hope Sievert finished in 12
th in 12:32.22. The finals of the men's DMR saw the quartet of sophomore
Wes Taylor, senior
Joe Wahl and juniors
Colton Thress and
Zach Vales finish 12
th in 10:04.88.
Freshman
Jon Lutz qualified for Saturday's (March 14) finals of the men's 60-meter hurdles after placing fifth in Friday's preliminaries in 7.89 seconds.
