Eagle STUNT Ends Home Season With Victory Over Hiram

The first full season for Ashland University's STUNT team has been an unmitigated success.

On Wednesday (April 6) night at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium, the Eagles (7-3) finished their home schedule at 4-0 following a 16-8 win over Hiram (4-2). Ashland has won seven of its last eight games.

"We are very thrilled," said Ashland head coach Denise Farnsworth. "We knew this was going to be a more challenging game. We've been preparing for it all season. It was our last home game, so the girls were super excited. They did their job."

Said junior base/tumbler Shila Hartzler, "It's the best feeling in the entire world. We worked so hard all week for this, and it just feels so good to win at home. And to be undefeated at home, it just feels amazing.

"We have a lot of campus community out here, and it just feels good to have other student-athletes support us, too."

WHAT HAPPENED
  • Ashland outscored Hiram 4-1 in both the first and third quarters en route to the victory.
  • The top Eagle point scorers on Wednesday night were junior base/tumbler Kayla Pitts and freshman flyer/base/tumbler Alyssa McLaughlin with 37 points each, and sophomore flyer/tumbler Lily Boldman with 35 points.
  • "I can't even believe what we've been able to accomplish in this year," Farnsworth said. "I couldn't be more proud."
