In the third and final round of the 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship on Tuesday (April 19) at Lexington, Ky., Ashland University's women's golf team finished in fifth place in the nine-team field.
The Eagles' team finish was their best in a conference tournament since taking fourth in the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference event.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Eagles' final team score was 338-329-337—1,004. Findlay (294-304-303—901) and Tiffin (313-319-308—940) advanced to the medal match play round to determine the conference winner, and Trevecca Nazarene finished third (333-336-332-1,001).
- Ashland was paced at the conference tournament by a pair of freshmen, Samantha Webb and Emma Conway, both of whom tied in a tie for 14th place. Webb was 86-81-82—249, and had two birdies on Tuesday, while Conway was 82-80-87—249.
- Another freshman, Grace Grant, tied for 24th at 89-82-86—257, senior Sophia Lowe was 29th at 81-92-86—259, and sophomore Mailiis Simovart tied for 30th at 91-86-83—260 (one Tuesday birdie).
