The next-to-last round of regular-season play prior to the conference tournament saw Ashland University's women's golf team card a round of 324 on Day 1 of Walsh's Cav Classic on Monday (April 11).
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Eagle women are seventh in the 15-team field following the first 18 holes. Findlay is first (304), followed by Grand Valley State (305) and Northwood (309).
- Ashland's first-day showing was led by three freshmen – Grace Grant, Samantha Webb and Emma Conway. Grant is tied for 24th individually after a 79 (one birdie), while Webb (one birdie) and Conway are tied for 31st with matching 81s.
- Sophomore Mailiis Simovart had an 83 (one birdie) and is tied for 40th, and senior Sophia Lowe is tied for 75th with a 90.
- Playing as individuals on Monday were sophomore Maddy Klinger (tied for 70th, 88) and freshman Alyson Veverka (tied for 85th, 96).
UP NEXT
The final round of the Cav Classic on Tuesday (April 12), then the 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships on April 18-19 in Lexington, Ky.
