Following the third and final day of the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff on Saturday (March 12) in Wesley Chapel, Fla., the Ashland University women's golf team finished in sixth place at the 14-team event.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Eagles carded 327-318-335—980. Keiser University went wire-to-wire to win the event (299-306-301—906), followed by Tiffin (305-301-325—931) and Northwood (322-315-313—950).
- Freshman Emma Conway ended the weekend as AU's top performer, ending at 80-72-86—238, while sophomore Mailiis Simovart was close behind at 81-77-82—240, and had two birdies on Saturday.
- Another freshman, Grace Grant, had a birdie on Saturday and ended up at 82-88-82—252.
- And yet another freshman, Samantha Webb, was 88-82-85, but that wasn't the story of her weekend. Thanks to an eagle on hole No. 7, Webb's third of the season, she set a new program record for eagles in a career – after only 11 rounds. Webb also had back-to-back birdies on Saturday.
- Senior Sophia Lowe had two birdies on Saturday, and finished at 84-87-89—260. Playing as an individual on the weekend was sophomore Maddy Klinger, who was 96-88-88-272.
