Eagle Men, Women Finish Regular Season At Jud Logan Memorial Tune Up

Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams completed their regular season with strong efforts at the Al Campbell Invitational at Akron University and the Jud Logan Memorial Tune Up at Kent State.
 
The Eagles achieved nine provisional marks in total on Friday (Feb. 18) and Saturday (Feb. 19). Five of those marks were improved upon, and four were new provisional marks for the 2022 NCAA Division II Championships (March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan.).

On Feb. 8, Kent State announced its final home indoor track and field meet each season will be named the Jud Logan Memorial Tune Up in perpetuity. Logan passed away at age 62 in January. He was in his 17th season as Ashland's head men's and women's track and field coach, and his 28th year with the Eagle program as a whole, starting as an assistant coach.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • On Friday at Akron, senior Rachel Miller finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.1 seconds.
  • On Saturday at Kent State, the day got started with freshman Sydney Koker tying her season best and provisional mark of 1.74 meters/5-feet-8½ in the high jump. Senior Nate Stout also claimed first place at 17.37 meters/57-feet-0 in the shot put.
  • Sophomore Doniven Jackson finished second in the 200 dash and tied his previous provisional mark of 21.39 seconds. Also finishing first was freshman Caden Morris in the long jump with a leap of 7.12 meters/23-feet-4½.
  • Other provisional marks were achieved by sophomore Noah Koch in both the weight throw and shot put. Koch finished second in the weight throw with a launch of 19.6 meters/64-feet-3, and third in the shot put with a throw of 16.52 meters/54-feet-2½.
  • Freshman Brock Janowicz came in third in the weight throw with a mark of 19.19 meters/62-feet-11½. Senior Keshun Jones finished second in the 400 dash with a time of 48.38 seconds, and freshman Sarah Masuoka came in third in the pole vault at 3.75 meters/12-feet-3½.
  • Other placements include seniors Storm Elsesser in the high jump (second, 2.00 meters/6-feet-6Âľ), Steven Kapes in the 3,000-meter run (third, 8:41.34), and Aaron Banks in the 60 dash (third, 6.91 seconds) and 200 dash (third, 21.8 seconds); sophomore Wyatt Cory in the pole vault (third, 4.45 meters/14-feet-7ÂĽ), and freshman Kelsey Kinsley in the weight throw (second, 17.02 meters/55-feet-10).
 
UP NEXT
The Eagles will travel on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 25-26) to compete in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships at The Robert A. Malcolm Athletic Center on the campus of Findlay University.
