AU Runners Compete At 2022 Great Midwest Championships

On Saturday (Nov. 5) at Findlay, Ashland University's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • The men's 8K race saw Ashland place eighth in the 11-team field with 219 points. Walsh was the team champion with 37 points, followed by Northwood (70) and Cedarville (81).
  • Sophomore Colton Pinkerton paced the AU men's effort by finishing in 33rd place in 26:03.5. Senior Nick Ponzi was 45th in 26:30.3, while junior Konnor Ray was 49th in 26:35.6.
  • Freshman Michael Snopik finished 61st in 27:00.7, while senior Joel Pospisil was 75th in 27:26.3.
  • In the opening race of the day, the women's 6K league championship, Ashland placed 11th of 13 teams with 279 points. Cedarville was the team winner with 20 points, followed by Hillsdale (68) and Walsh (87).
  • Junior McKenna Woodruff was the Eagle women's top placer, crossing the finish line in a new 6K PR of 24:26.2 and in 60th place individually. Freshman Jade Neal turned in a 6K PR of nearly two minutes in finishing in 24:39.2, and in 66th place.
  • Senior Emma Hinkle was 72nd in 24:47.2, freshman Brenna Heinzerling took 83rd in 25:19.0, and freshman Analeise Artino was 88th in 25:45.8.

Ashland's men and women will compete at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships on Nov. 19.
