The NCAA released its third set of Division II Super Region 3 men's soccer rankings on Wednesday (Nov. 2) afternoon, and Ashland University is placed at No. 3 heading into the 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.
Finishing the regular season at 10-6-1 overall and 9-5 in Great Midwest play, the Eagles will begin league tournament play with a semifinal on Thursday (Nov. 3) at 2 p.m. in Tiffin against Lake Erie.
Regional rankings also were released on Oct. 19 and 26 – first in alphabetical order, then rank order. The NCAA Division II men's soccer tournament selection show will be Monday (Nov. 7) at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com.
Ashland's men's soccer team has made six trips to the NCAA Tournament (2001, 2003, 2008-10 and 2018), reaching the NCAA Elite Eight in 2001.
A 40-team tournament (10 teams from four super regions), the D-II postseason will begin on Nov. 10 or 11, and the D-II national championship game will be Dec. 3 at Interbay Soccer Stadium in Seattle, Wash.
In Super Region 3, automatic qualifiers come from the winners of the Great American Conference, Great Midwest, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournaments. The other six teams are chosen as at-large entries. There are 37 teams in Super Region 3 –11 in the Great Midwest, seven in the GAC, 13 in the GLVC and six in the GLIAC.
