On Saturday (Nov. 19), Ashland University's men's and women's cross country teams ran at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional meet in Kenosha, Wis.
The Eagle men were 23
rd in the 28-team field in the 10K race, and the Ashland women were 30
th out of 31 teams in the 6K race.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Ashland's men were paced by sophomore Colton Pinkerton, who was 106th and finished in a new PR of 33:31.59. Senior Nick Ponzi followed in 114th place at 33:40.1.
- Freshmen were the Eagles' next two placers – Michael Snopik (133rd, 34:13.65) and Braeden Geist (146th, 34:37.47). Junior Konnor Ray was 151st in 34:48.63.
- Ashland's men finished with 640 team points. Grand Valley State was the men's race winner at 58, followed by Saginaw Valley State (113) and Walsh (118).
- On the women's side, senior Emma Hinkle was the top AU placer, ending in 155th at 24:56.67. Sophomore Emilie Lemon was 169th in 25:34.55, while freshman Analeise Artino was 182nd in 26:13.02.
- Freshmen Brenna Heinzerling (184th, 26:15.99) and Haley Heitz (189th, 26:30.00) rounded out the AU women top five.
- Ashland's women had 866 team points. GVSU won the women's race, as well, with 31 points, followed by Cedarville (73) and Wayne State (112).
