Finishing out the 2022 regular season Friday (Oct. 14) at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic at Wilmington, Ashland University's women's cross country team took fourth place in a 16-team field, and the Eagle men finished fifth in the 24-team race.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The women's 5K saw the Eagles end with 139 team points – trailing only Thomas More (49), Wright State (81) and Mount Vernon Nazarene (107).
- Junior McKenna Woodruff paced the AU women's effort by crossing the finish line in 20:11.2 and finishing 17th individually. Freshman Jade Neal was next in 26th place (20:40.6), senior Emma Hinkle was 30th (20:51.6), freshman Brenna Heinzerling placed 45th (21:15.8), and sophomore Emilie Lemon was 49th (21:20.2).
- In the men's 8K, AU finished with 225 team points – behind just Wilmington (67), unattached Miami of Ohio (80), Cedarville (163), and Mount Vernon Nazarene (165).
- Senior Nick Ponzi was the pacesetter for the Eagle men, finishing in 26:27.8 and in 25th place. Freshman Michael Snopik was 32nd in 26:46.1, junior Konnor Ray was 44th in 27:07.0, senior Joel Pospisil took 66th in 27:31.4, and freshman Braeden Geist was 72nd in 27:39.6.
