Three Eagles Earn New Nationals Provisional Marks At PSU

Three Ashland University men's indoor track and field athletes earned new nationals provisional marks on Saturday (Jan. 22) afternoon at the Penn State National Invitational.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • Senior Trevor Bassitt won the men's 400-meter dash in 46.08 seconds, while senior Channing Phillips was third in 47.44 seconds, and both earned new provos for the 2022 NCAA Division II Championships (March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan.). Those times put Bassitt and Phillips as No. 1 and 2 in the 400 dash in the country, respectively, and Bassitt's time is No. 3 in the world so far this indoor season.
  • Yet another senior, Storm Elsesser, earned his new provo with a fourth-place effort in the men's high jump at 2.05 meters/6-feet-8Âľ.
  • Also on Saturday, senior Rachel Miller was third in the women's 400 dash in 57.15 seconds, and freshman Sydney Koker tied for third in the women's high jump at 1.70 meters/5-feet-7.
